the bow bow room

wandered in a small bar in Chinatown San Francisco. I think it was called the Bow Bow room. The smoke filled room was full of character. I was intrigued by the guy in front. He never looked up except to order drinks. He was there for quite ahile and suddenly left. He tried to skip out on his tab. I sketched this on site and later redrew it on wood to paint it.

A lovely drawing that almost makes me nostalgic for the smell of smokey bars.

I can smell the stale beer and cigarette smoke. I was dragged to most of the bars in Boston as a kid.

That's great. I like the way barmaid fades into the smokey background. I can almost smell the cigarettes and stale beer! Great job!

Yes, there's such a strong sense of atmosphere here, I almost feel like I'm there. I feel a bit sorry for that lonely guy.
