This is a painting I did for a gallery group show called "Remixing the Magic" at Gallery 1988 (last year). Artists were invited to re-interpret Disney characters based on their experiences and influences from the Disney films.
"Jungle Book" was one of my all time favorites. What I remember most was the blissful contentment of Mowgli and Baloo as they simply live off the land and the bond they have with each other. I chose to depict that quiet moment between the two as they past the hours away by the slow moving river in the late afternoon. I thought this would be appropriate for an i.f. post.

This looks like it came out from a Disney movie! Beautiful!!!
Great color work. I like that it's a fresh take on an iconic movie/book.

i really like it
This is REALLY nice, Rich. One of my favorites that you've done.
Ry
I agree with Ryan, Rich. You really captured the moment. I love the depth between the ripples. It looks as if strips of the top layer were peeled off to reveal a clean, glassy surface beneath. Great BG fade, too.
W-h-a-t?!!!!
That's what Ryan usually says.
But much louder.
whaaaaat?
wow this is awesome!
